We spoke with Jessica Garnello (Flagstaff Manager) and Wendy Hillyer (Sedona Manager) to explore the story behind Crystal Magic, its evolution, and why MOVA Globes have become such a perfect fit.
Tell us a little bit about your stores.
Jessica: Crystal Magic has been family-owned for over 30 years. We opened our first store in West Sedona, followed by our Flagstaff location two years later. From the beginning, we’ve focused on offering high-quality crystals, jewellery, books, and unique gifts.
Wendy: The Sedona store originally opened in 1984 as a small futon and crystal shop. Over time, it evolved into what it is today—one of the most diverse and well-stocked crystal stores in the country, offering everything from minerals and books to candles, body care, and distinctive gift items like MOVA Globes.
What makes Sedona and Flagstaff special?
Jessica: Sedona is often considered the New Age capital of the world, attracting visitors seeking spiritual experiences. Flagstaff offers similar appeal as a gateway to the Grand Canyon, with its own natural beauty and cooler climate.
Wendy: Sedona’s open-minded and spiritual community makes it a place where people come to explore personal growth—and we aim to support that journey.
How did you discover MOVA Globes?
Jessica: I first saw a MOVA Globe on a friend’s desk and was immediately fascinated. It was unlike anything I had ever seen—I knew right away it belonged in our store.
Do you ever tell customers the globes are powered by “magic”?
Jessica: When I say it’s magic, I sometimes get funny looks—but I love explaining how they actually work. It makes the experience even more memorable.
Wendy: We say that all the time! One of my favourite moments was watching a customer interact with a globe—moving closer and farther away as it seemed to react. The look of wonder on his face was unforgettable. He ended up taking one home.
Do you have a favourite MOVA Globe?
Jessica: I love the Antique Cassini White—the colours and detailing are incredible. The Satellite View with Gold Lettering is also beautifully elegant.
Wendy: My favourites are the Antique Cassini Green, Mars, and Constellations. They each feel like holding a miniature world in your hands.

Jessica: Our stores offer an ethereal, immersive experience. We aim to carry products that customers have never seen before, creating a space that feels truly unique.
Wendy: We work hard to ensure customers feel welcomed and relaxed. With calming music, knowledgeable staff, and a peaceful environment, the experience is just as important as the products themselves.
