MOVA Relief Map Blue Globes

Since launching in 2004, MOVA Globes have evolved well beyond their original concept, growing into a diverse line of solar-powered rotating globes. Today, our collections include not only our signature World Maps but also thematic designs like Outer Space, Art & Collectibles, Metallic Map, and more. Beyond aesthetic variety, we’ve also introduced three unique sizes to cater to different preferences and settings: 4.5”, 6”, and 8.5” diameters.

While most of our expansion has focused on the wide range of designs, the push to offer varied sizes came directly from customer feedback. Our initial globes were produced exclusively in the 6” size. However, it quickly became apparent that there was demand for a smaller, more affordable version—hence the 4.5” globe. Let’s explore how each size offers a distinctive experience and purpose.

8.5" Black and Silver MOVA Globe

8.5” MOVA Globes – A Bold Centrepiece

When you spot MOVA Globes in a shop, it’s likely you’ll see plenty of 4.5” models, a few 6” versions, and perhaps just a couple of 8.5” globes. Why the rarity? The largest of our current sizes makes a powerful visual statement, and its impressive presence means only one is needed to command attention.

At 8.5”, this globe is comparable in size to a classic desktop globe and makes for an excellent centre display in lobbies, boardrooms, or executive offices. Its slow, silent rotation adds an elegant dynamism, while the larger surface area allows for greater visibility of city and country names—ideal for quick reference. The Black and Silver Metallic globe featuring latitude and longitude lines remains a favourite for those after a modern, impactful aesthetic.

At this size, the globe weighs in at approximately 5.9 kgs—deceptively heavy due to the internal liquid powering its motion.

6” MOVA Globes – The Perfect Balance

The original MOVA Globe was developed in this 6” diameter, which remains one of our most popular options. It’s an ideal middle ground: not so large as to dominate a space, yet big enough to showcase detailed artwork and map features.

Weighing around 2.7 kgs, this globe strikes the right balance between presence and portability. It’s versatile enough to suit any décor setting—from home libraries to office desks—and is now available in most of our collections. The 6” design offers the best visual clarity while retaining the graceful motion MOVA is known for. It also pairs beautifully with other sizes, especially for those building a globe collection or planetary-themed display.

4.5” MOVA Globes – The Magic of Motion in Your Palm

They say, “He’s got the whole world in his hands,” and our 4.5” MOVA Globe brings that phrase to life—literally. It’s small enough to hold, yet captivating enough to be the highlight of any room. Ideal for first-time buyers or as thoughtful gifts, this compact globe delivers the same seamless rotation technology found in larger models.

Whether placed on a bookshelf, desk, or bedside table, the 4.5” globe is a charming, space-saving option that never fails to delight. The Relief Map Blue version, for example, is a favourite among visitors at our trade shows and retailers—many of whom can’t resist picking it up and marvelling at its silent movement. At just 1.8 kg, it surprises many with its satisfying weight and quality feel.

A Question of Scale

You might be wondering: could we go even bigger? The answer is—technically, yes. We've received requests for sizes as large as 60”! But with scale comes weight: a 10” MOVA Globe would weigh about 13.6 kgs, and a 60” version could exceed 45 kgs, making it less practical for most environments. Even our 4.5” models surprise first-time users with their density due to the internal liquid filling that powers their motion.
