We caught up with owner Ken Nadjibi to reflect on the gallery’s legacy, the charm of Sausalito, and why MOVA Globes continue to captivate customers from around the world.
Tell us a little bit about your store.
We have been in the same location in Sausalito for 35 years. We offer a wide range of collectables including Swarovski, Lladro, Lalique, Daum, H Studio, wall art, fine jewellery, and many other home décor brands. Our focus has always been on carrying the most unique and distinctive items available.
How did you first discover MOVA Globes?
Bill French, the inventor of MOVA Globes, walked into our gallery one Saturday morning with his original designs after researching the best place to introduce them to the market.
Although we typically don’t meet vendors on weekends, we decided to give him a chance. After presenting two 6-inch globes, he challenged us to figure out how they worked—and despite my engineering background, I couldn’t explain it.
We displayed the globes to gauge customer reactions, and both sold within a few days. From there, the relationship grew—and the rest is history.
How do customers react to MOVA Globes?
Our customers are consistently amazed by both the design and the technology behind the globes. Many start with a single piece and eventually return to collect multiple designs, sometimes building out entire collections.
What makes Sausalito special?
Sausalito is one of the most unique small towns in California—perhaps even the entire country. With its waterfront views, mild climate, and relaxed atmosphere, it’s often compared to the French or Italian Riviera.
We like to think of it as a hidden treasure. Many visitors discover it only after multiple trips to the Bay Area, but once they do, they’re captivated by its beauty and charm.
Do you have a favourite MOVA Globe?
Our favourite changes often as new designs are introduced, but at the moment, we’re particularly fond of the Antique Cassini White Globe. That said, we truly appreciate the diversity and craftsmanship across the entire collection.
